Place Picture Cards 9—16( from SB 4 Unit 2) on the board. For example: exercising, working, shouting, thinking etc. Ask Ss What are they doing? [Ss: He‘s exercising. She‘s shouting.] 2. Take picture cards off the board, ask one student to come up and pick one of the cards. Tell him/ her to act out what is on the card. T: What‘s he/ she doing? [Ss: (S1‘s name) is thinking.] Step Two. Presentation Have Ss look at the pictures on the page. T? Point to the first and second picture.) Who‘s this ? [ Ss: It‘s Gogo, Jenny, Ben and Lisa.] T: ( Point to the second picture.) What are they doing? [Ss: They are talking.] T: Look at the third picture . Ben is digging. Let‘s dig. Model digging. T: I‘m digging. Repeat. [Ss: I‘m digging.] T: OK,everyone. Sit down. Step Three. Listen and read. T: Let‘s listen to the tape. 1. Have Ss look at the page and point to each picture for Ss to follow. T: What‘s Jenny doing? [ Ss: She‘s talking.] T: What is Ben doing? [ Ss: He‘s digging.] T: What is Lisa doing?[Ss: She‘s laughing.] T: Let‘s listen to the tape and read the story. 2. Play Ss into four groups and give them the roles of Jenny, Gogo, Ben and Lisa . Encourage groups to add voice expressions and actions. Step Four . Read and say 1. T: Listen to the tape and repeat. Point to each word as you say it. 2. Have Ss listen, repeat and point to each picture. 3. Play the tape again, and have Ss repeat each word. Step Five Homework. The Second Period Step One . Greetings. Step Two : Presentation Have Ss look at the pictures on the page. T: ( Point to picture 1.) What‘s that? [Ss: It‘s a tree.] T: ( Point to picture 3.) What ?s he doing? [Ss: He‘s digging.] T: Is he digging slowly? ( Use actions to demonstrate this.) [Ss: Yes , he is.] Step Three. Read and say. Play the tape a few times, pausing after each sentence for Ss to repeat. Put Ss into pairs and have them practice saying the dialog to each other. Step Four. Practice 1. Getting ready Ask four Ss to read questions A—D aloud. 2. Using the book Have Ss look at the pictures for A. T: ( Point to the first picture.) ( S1‘s name), please answer. [S1: He was singing.] Contnue with the other three pictures. T: Let‘s listen to the tape. Play the tape for A, then pause. T: Put a checkmark in the box.( S2‘s name), what was he doing? [S2: He was digging.] Repeat the procedures with the other three questions 3. Put Ss in pairs. Have Ss take turns asking and answering questions about the pictures. Encourage them to act out the pictures, e.g. clapping loudly, walking quickly, etc. Walk around the classroom to provide help if needed. Step Five: Listen and sing 1. T: Let‘s read out the lyrics. Ask individual Ss to read out the sentences. T: Now let‘s listen to the tape. Play the tape and point to each word as it is sung. Divide the class into two groups and assign each group a verse. Play the tape and have each group sing their verse. Play the tape and have Ss fill in the blanks. Pause the tape from time to time if necessary. T: Let‘s check the answers together. Have Ss read out the sentences aloud. Divide Ss into two groups. Have one group sing the first verse and the other group sing the second verse. Then switch. Step Six Homework. The Third Period. Step One . sing a song 1.Getting ready Have Ss look at the pictures on the page. T: Where‘s Gogo? [ Ss: He‘s in the library.]What‘s Gogo doing in the number 1? [Ss: He‘s working.]Is he working loudly? [Ss: No, he‘s working quietly.] Ask questions about the other picture. Make sure to point out the answers.[ Step Two Ask four Ss to read out the sentences filling in the missing word. Give Ss time to finish writing the missing words. Then ask them to find these words in the grid. Circulate around the classroom to see how Ss are doing. When Ss are finished, put them into pairs. Have Ss compare their sentences with each other. Ask some Ss to write the sentences on the board so that the whole class can check the answers. Step Three Listening practice. 1. Have Ss look at the pictures in the page. T: Let‘s listen to the tape. Play the tape and have Ss point to each word as the tape says it. T: Let‘s listen again and this time, repeat. Have Ss repeat after the tape. After enough practice, point to the pictures randomly and have Ss say the words. 2. Have individual Ss read aloud the lyrics line by line. T: Let‘s listen to the chant. Play the tape once. T: OK. Let‘s chant together. Play the tape again and have Ss chant along. Step Four: Workbook. 1. Listening practice. 2. Check the answers for other questions. T: What didi you do yesterday ? 4. Have Ss point out picture ad answer telling whether it was a good day or a bad day. Step Three isten ,look and read . 1. T: Let‘s listen to the tape and red the story . 2. Have Ss follow the dialog by pointing ti the picture in their books . Toint to the third picture . What did gogo do ? 3. Help Ss to answer if necessary. E.g. Gogo went to the park. T :point to the next picture . What happened next? 4. Continue until the sixth picture . T: Did Gogo find his keys?(Ss : Yes , he did. ) T: Let‘s listen to the tape again and repeat . 5. Play the tape, pausing after each expression to have Ss repeat . 6. Put Ss into small groups and give Ss the roles of Tony, Jenny and Gogo. Have groups practice the dialog. Step Four :listen and read 1. T: Listen to the tape and repeat . Point to each word as you say it . 2. Play the tape and have Ss repeat each word. 3. Point to the picture at random and have Ss say the words . 4. Introduce the Bonus vocabulary: hurt my knee, failed the test and puppy. Use pantomimes and props, if available. Step five : Summary . Step six : Homework.
